Ayman Zohry, PhD, is an expert on population and migration studies based in Cairo, Egypt. He holds a doctorate from the University of Sussex and is the founding president of the Egyptian Society for Migration Studies (EGYMIG).
Dr. Zohry is an Adjunct Professor at the American University in Cairo (AUC) and chairs the Scientific Panel on Migration of the Union for African Population Studies (UAPS). He previously served as Chair of the International Union for the Scientific Study of Population (IUSSP) Panel on Migration (2011–2014).
His research covers internal migration and urbanization, labor migration, irregular migration, migration governance, and migration policies in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) and Europe.
He previously served on the editorial board of the Journal of Immigrant & Refugee Studies (2005–2013) and currently serves on the editorial board of the International Migration Review.
Beyond his academic work, Dr. Zohry writes in Arabic on Egyptian society, folklore, and migration, and is a regular media commentator on migration issues in Egypt and the region.
د. أيمن زهري خبير في دراسات السكان والهجرة، مقيم في القاهرة، مصر. حاصل على درجة الدكتوراه من جامعة ساسكس البريطانية، وهو الرئيس المؤسس للجمعية المصرية لدراسات الهجرة (إيجيميج).
يعمل د. زهري أستاذاً مساعداً غير متفرغ بالجامعة الأمريكية بالقاهرة، ويرأس اللجنة العلمية للهجرة التابعة لاتحاد الدراسات السكانية الأفريقية. كما شغل سابقاً رئاسة لجنة الهجرة بالاتحاد الدولي للدراسات السكانية (٢٠١١–٢٠١٤).
تتركز اهتماماته البحثية على الهجرة الداخلية والتحضر، وهجرة العمالة، والهجرة غير النظامية، وحوكمة الهجرة، وسياسات الهجرة في الشرق الأوسط وشمال أفريقيا وأوروبا.
عمل سابقاً عضواً في هيئة تحرير مجلة "Journal of Immigrant & Refugee Studies" (٢٠٠٥–٢٠١٣)، ويعمل حالياً عضواً في هيئة تحرير مجلة "International Migration Review".
إلى جانب عمله الأكاديمي، يكتب د. زهري بالعربية في المجتمع المصري والفولكلور الشعبي وقضايا الهجرة، وهو معلق إعلامي منتظم في قضايا الهجرة في مصر والمنطقة.
